Leslie Sims presented the Continuing Education Seminar at the Saskatchewan Architects Association AGM. The full day seminar was delivered in two sessions entitled “Developing an Alternative Solution” and “National Building Code – Alternative Solutions, Objective-based Design, Why and How.”
The educational seminars covered the National Building Code and the use of Alternative Solutions. The seminar included an overview of the re-structured NBC, with emphasis on the Objectives and Functional Statements of the new Code and discussed how to develop and structure an alternative solution. Examples of recognized alternative solutions were provided to participants.
Leslie A. Sims, P.Eng., principal of ARENCON Inc., is an accomplished professional engineer and building code consultant specializing in fire and life safety. Ms. Sims is registered as a designer with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in the categories of Complex Buildings and Building Services and was appointed as Vice Chair of the Building Code Commission for Ontario.
